slightly to be sure the surface tension is holding the lens on the eye, to force out any large bubbles, and to remove any debris that might have gotten on the back of the lens. New lenses often feel better if they are moved around on the conjunctiva on placement. The lens can than be gently slid so that it is at least partially on the cornea.
Instruct the patient to look down, release the lids, and have the patient blink.
