  1. Place the lens on the index finger of your 
  2. dominate hand.

  4. Control the patient's upper lid with your 
  5. thumb or any finger of your non-dominate 
  6. hand and the lower lid with any finger 
  7. except the index finger of your dominate 
  8. hand.

  10. Instruct the patient to look left or right, 
  11. depending on the eye, to expose the 
  12. temporal conjunctiva.

  14. Place the lens on the temporal bulbar 
  15. conjunctiva.  It is often helpful to move 
  16. the lens around on the conjunctiva 
  17. slightly to be sure the surface tension is holding the lens on the eye, to force out any large bubbles, and to remove any debris that might have gotten on the back of the lens.  New lenses often feel better if they are moved around on the conjunctiva on placement. The lens can than be gently slid so that it is at least partially on the cornea.
